Privacy Policy
This English version is provided for convenience. In case of differences, the German version applies.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for processing personal data on www.peyronie.online, wissen.peyronie.online and guide.peyronie.online is:
Dr. Axel Westerwelle
Langenfelder Str. 262a
51371 Leverkusen
Germany
Email: axel@peyronie.online
A data protection officer is not required for this private website.
2. In brief
You can use all pages without giving your name or email address. I use no cookies, no cookie banner and no analytics or advertising services such as Google Analytics, and I do not sell data. I only process personal data when you email me or subscribe to my newsletter, and for the technical operation of the sites. Diary entries never leave your device.
3. Hosting
The websites are hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. Hostinger processes data on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Where data is processed outside the EU, this is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Server log files
Each time a page is accessed, the server automatically stores: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, browser and operating system, and the previously visited page. I need this data to deliver the pages and detect attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is deleted or anonymized after seven days at the latest and is not combined with other data.
5. Encryption
All pages are transmitted over an encrypted SSL/TLS connection. You can recognize this by the padlock symbol and “https://” in the address bar.
6. No cookies, only local storage
These websites set no cookies. Some features store settings in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) so they are kept for your next visit: your choice between light and dark design and your answers in the guide. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to me. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act), because you use these features yourself. You can delete the data at any time via the site data in your browser.
7. Contact by email
If you email me, I process your message, your email address and, where given, your name in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). I delete the data once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. You can ask me by email at any time to delete all your data.
8. Newsletter
If you subscribe to my newsletter by email, I store your email address and, where given, your name. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). I send the newsletter myself from my email program. All recipients are in blind copy (BCC) and cannot see each other’s addresses. No newsletter service and no tracking of opens or clicks is used. The messages pass through the servers of my email provider.
You can unsubscribe at any time by replying briefly to a newsletter or by emailing axel@peyronie.online. I will then remove your address from the mailing list. I keep proof of your consent for as long as claims can be made on that basis, usually three years.
9. Knowledge platforms and diary
The knowledge platforms wissen.peyronie.online and guide.peyronie.online set no cookies, use no analytics and load no content from third parties. The fonts are embedded directly; there is no connection to Google or other services.
The diary (wissen.peyronie.online/tagebuch and guide.peyronie.online/diary) stores all entries and photos only in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) on your device. There is no account and no database on the server. Entries are never transmitted to me or to third parties; I cannot see them. Photos are reduced in size on your device before saving. The report for your medical appointment is created by your browser itself. A backup file is only created when you download it yourself; it is not encrypted, so keep it safe. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can delete all data via “Delete all entries” in the diary or via the site data in your browser.
Please note: anyone with access to your device and browser can open the diary.
10. Amazon Associates
I take part in the Amazon Associates programme of Amazon Europe Core S.à r.l., 38 avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg. Some links to my books are affiliate links; as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. No data is collected and no cookies are set on my pages for this. Only when you click such a link does your browser connect to Amazon. Amazon may then set cookies and record that you came from my site in order to attribute the commission. Amazon is responsible for this; Amazon’s privacy policy applies.
11. Links to other services
My pages contain plain links, for example to Spotify and Apple Podcasts (podcast), the ARD Mediathek, YouTube videos and studies and manufacturers on the “Links” page. These are not embedded content. Only when you click a link does your browser connect to the provider, which then processes data such as your IP address. The provider’s own privacy policy applies.
12. Disclosure to third parties
I do not pass your data on to third parties, except to the service providers named above (hosting, email) or where I am legally obliged to do so.
13. Storage period
I store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention periods. The individual periods are listed in the sections above.
14. Your rights
You have the right at any time to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). An email to axel@peyronie.online is enough; exercising your rights is free of charge.
Right to object: where I process data on the basis of my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
15. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the country where you live. The authority responsible for me is:
Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia)
Kavalleriestraße 2–4
40213 Düsseldorf, Germany
www.ldi.nrw.de
16. Changes
I update this privacy policy when the websites or the legal situation change. The version published here applies.
